After eleven years of buying safety gear for an industrial contractor, I hold an opinion that sounds strange in a spreadsheet: The safest product is the one workers actually wear, maintain, and trust. That is why I keep specifying MSA Safety. Not because MSA safety competitors don't exist. They do. I have ordered from several of them. The common thread is quality perception. When equipment feels cheap or flimsy, people stop taking safety seriously. When equipment feels dependable, people pay attention to it.
That is why I recommend MSA Safety. Not because MSA safety competitors do not exist. Not because a piece of equipment can guarantee zero injuries, because no piece can. I recommend it because I have seen workers trust a harness enough to wear it, trust a detector enough to pay attention to its alarms, and trust the safety program enough to tell us when something looks wrong.
